Rhetorical Analysis Self Assessment

For the rhetorical analysis assignment, I had to think of a provocative image I could write about. I wanted to choose something that sent a powerful message. What came to mind was Colin Kaepernick, which inspired me to write about him kneeling during the national anthem. I was not sure how I was going to break down the image to write about it in an essay, but from class, I learned that you have to focus on the purpose of the image and what audience the image is targeting. Once I figured that out, I was able to elaborate on my essay, talking about the influence of Colin Kaepernick kneeling. I was able to use quotes and write short summaries about Kaepernick which led to him starting his protest which helped me complete objective 8. I was able to write about the strong influence of Kaepernick’s protest, and from that, I was able to give off my stance without having to specifically state it based on how I wrote the assignment. From that, I was able to complete objective 6. Once I received a peer review from a classmate, I realized that I had more to improve on in that assignment. I was able to fix where I went wrong when writing the final draft of the assignment so that I could further elaborate on my view on Kaepernicnk’s protest, which resulted in me completing objective 2.
